Ostend-Bruges Airport
The full Vebego story
Specialized Airport Cleaning Training developed for and with Vebego.
As a family company, Vebego has always put people first. In airport cleaning, many colleagues bring strong practical experience, dedication and pride in their work, even if their learning journeys and levels of formal education differ. Vebego wanted to recognise that value and invest further in their growth.
The challenge was to give colleagues the tools, confidence and shared understanding they need to perform strongly in a demanding airport environment. Cleaning at the airport is not just about technique. It is also about safety, procedures, customer centricity, passenger experience and pride in a job that matters every day.
Together with Vebego, AHLEX co-created a 32-hour Specialized Airport Cleaning Training. The first group consisted of 13 zone supervisors in May and June 2025. From there, the programme was designed to support a broader rollout to 200 colleagues, so the same expectations, knowledge and confidence could grow across the workforce.
The programme was built with Vebego experts from HR and Operations, combining technical content with the human side of the job. Participants explored the airport environment, security and airport-specific procedures, cleaning standards, Vebego values, ASQ standards, general and sanitary cleaning, and the specific expectations of different airport zones from the passenger perspective.
AHLEX made the learning accessible and practical. Classroom sessions gave participants the essential knowledge while taking linguistic diversity into account. Practical training used the same materials colleagues work with every day, so the link with the job was immediate. In the digital training & experience area, immersive and interactive modules connected the content to real-life scenarios and broader airport themes.
The training gave zone supervisors new insights into their role and responsibilities. It clarified what Vebego expects from them, but also what they can expect from Vebego. That mutual clarity helped build trust, alignment and stronger collaboration.
For participants, the programme became more than a technical training. It was a confidence boost and a clear message: your work matters, and we are investing in you. Colleagues who bring dedication and field experience were given the space to learn, connect and grow further within the Vebego family.
For Vebego, the initiative supports a more empowered, skilled and confident team. By combining operational skills with recognition and pride, the programme strengthens both service quality and workforce engagement. It shows how training can turn everyday work into a stronger source of confidence, belonging and professional pride.
