UC Leuven-Limburg

30 students, 5 countries, 1 shared learning experience.

It was great that the students were able to explore and experience the room for themselves, and on top of that there was a fun but effective brainstorming session.

The customer challenge

As part of an international programme, UC Leuven-Limburg wanted to give students a practical learning experience that complemented their research on digital learning and gamification.

The purpose

The visit aimed to connect the students’ academic work with a real training environment and give them a better understanding of how digital and experiential learning can be applied in practice.

The approach

Together with UC Leuven-Limburg, we shaped a programme that best matched the students’ learning goals and the focus of their international week.

The delivery

We welcomed 30 students from Finland, Romania, the Netherlands, Hungary and Belgium. The programme included an introduction to AHLEX, student presentations on game mechanics and visit in our digital experience centre.

The outcome

The students gained a practical perspective on digital learning and gamification, while the international setting encouraged discussion and knowledge exchange.

Students explore digital learning at AHLEX

International students exploring digital learning and gamification in an aviation training environment.

As part of an international programme organised by UC Leuven-Limburg, 30 students came together at AHLEX to explore digital learning. The visit added a practical dimension to their programme by connecting their research and ideas to a real training environment.

The day started with an introduction to AHLEX and our role in the aviation sector. This gave the students a better understanding of the environment in which they would spend the day and showed how digital learning and innovation are used within a professional aviation context.

The students then took the lead by presenting their own research on best practices in game mechanics. Their findings formed the basis for an open exchange of ideas on how gamification can support learning, engagement and decision-making. With students coming from Finland, Romania, the Netherlands, Hungary and Belgium, the international setting also brought different perspectives into the discussion.

The programme concluded with an onboarding session in our digital experience training centre. Here, the students were able to experience a digital training environment first-hand and see how experiential learning can be translated into practice.

It was an inspiring and engaging day, marked by curiosity, exchange and fresh perspectives.
