The full G4S story
Discovery Days programme for security students, developed for and with G4S.
G4S hires new talent every year across a wide range of roles. For last-year students in security-related programmes, the sector offers many opportunities, but those opportunities are not always easy to picture from the outside.
The challenge was to make those careers concrete and relevant. G4S wants to inspire the next generation of security agents, give students a clear inside view of the sector and show what working for G4S can mean in practice.
Together with G4S, AHLEX shaped the Discovery Days as an interactive, hands-on experience that connected job insight, practical discovery and direct application opportunities. Through workshops, demonstrations and direct contact with G4S professionals, students could move from curiosity to a clearer view of their own possible next step.
Across 6 Discovery Days, 767 students from 16 schools discovered domains such as airport security, K9 operations, mobile and event security, reception, port security and nuclear site security. They did not only hear about these roles. They could ask questions, interact with G4S employees, experience the company culture up close and see how different security services contribute to safe and smooth operations.
For interested participants, the Discovery Days also created a direct bridge towards action. After exploring the roles and benefits, students had the opportunity to take the next step through one-to-one recruitment conversations and student job applications.
For G4S, the programme became more than a recruitment initiative. It was a strong employer branding moment, carried by employees who acted as authentic ambassadors for the company. Their pride, openness and field experience helped make the story credible and human.
AHLEX added value and methodology
The process started with an in-depth client briefing and venue exploration. This created a clear understanding of G4S’s needs and helped identify the right setting. AHLEX also built on existing materials and feedback from previous initiatives, while deliberately using the venue’s strengths: flexibility, versatility and innovation.
From there, AHLEX translated the briefing into a tailored proposal with a creative but practical concept, a clear flow and a defined team setup on both sides. Roles and responsibilities were agreed to ensure smooth delivery. Feedback was gathered after the first sessions to fine-tune the following Discovery Days and make each next event stronger.
