Supporting Safran's technical onboarding programme
A tailored learning programme helping new aviation professionals build essential knowledge and workplace skills during their first month of onboarding.
As Safran Aircraft Engine Services Brussels continues to expand its workforce, onboarding large numbers of new employees has become a key operational priority. Every new recruit follows an extensive onboarding programme of approximately three months before joining day-to-day operations.
During the first month of this journey, Safran identified an opportunity to enrich the programme with additional learning activities that would prepare employees beyond their technical training. The objective was not to replace internal courses, but to complement them with skills and knowledge that support long-term success in the aviation industry.
AHLEX worked closely with Safran to design a tailor-made learning programme that seamlessly integrates into the existing onboarding schedule. Flexibility was a fundamental requirement, as recruitment volumes and planning regularly evolve. Depending on operational needs, training groups vary from only a few participants to larger classes, while the monthly schedule is continuously adapted to Safran’s planning.
The programme combines a broad range of topics that provide employees with a solid foundation for their future role. Participants are introduced to the aviation industry and strengthen their organisational and operational efficiency, analytical thinking, communication skills and technical English. The learning journey also includes a workshop on Human Factors, Dangerous Goods awareness and ergonomics training, ensuring employees develop both technical awareness and the behavioural competencies essential in a safety-critical environment.
Since the programme started in June 2026, AHLEX has been delivering approximately twelve training days every month. One of the key strengths of the collaboration is the ability to respond quickly to changing circumstances while maintaining a consistently high-quality learning experience.
The programme has received excellent feedback from both participants and the customer. Learners particularly appreciate the trainers’ energy, engagement and practical expertise, with several instructors bringing valuable experience from the MRO sector. This combination of industry knowledge and interactive delivery helps participants immediately connect the training to their future working environment.
By developing a learning solution tailored to Safran’s operational reality, AHLEX demonstrates how customised training programmes can strengthen onboarding, accelerate employee development and support organisations facing rapid growth and evolving workforce needs.
