Summary

This recognised basic first aid training prepares employees designated by their employer to provide first aid in the workplace. Participants learn how to assess emergency situations, support vital functions and provide immediate assistance in the event of injuries or sudden illness while awaiting professional medical assistance. The training combines essential theoretical knowledge with practical first aid techniques, including CPR and the use of an AED.

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Assess an emergency situation and provide appropriate first aid
  • Recognise life-threatening conditions and respond appropriately
  • Support the vital functions of an unconscious or injured casualty
  • Perform CPR and correctly use an AED
  • Provide first aid for common injuries and medical emergencies
  • Safely position, move or assist in the evacuation of a casualty

Additional information

This training is recognised by the Belgian Federal Public Service Employment, Labour and Social Dialogue (FPS Employment) and complies with the Royal Decree of 15 December 2010.

First aid accreditation: KBO 0726 384 894.

Annual refresher training is legally required after completing the basic training.

With over 20 years in acute care, I combine hands-on field experience with a passion for teaching. I started my career in 2001 as an emergency and MUG/PIT paramedic and have been an active firefighter-paramedic since 2011, responding daily to critical situations. I lecture in Emergency Medical Assistance (Dringende Geneeskundige Hulp (DGH)) and provide tailored first aid training for companies. As a certified "BWM-CPR expert for the KCCE, het Federaal Kenniscentrum voor Civiele Veiligheid", I deliver high-impact, up-to-date medical training. Holding degrees in Nursing and Emergency & Intensive Care, I always ensure my courses are practical, relevant, and scientifically grounded. Safety and commitment are my top priorities.
