Summary

This training programme provides a clear understanding of the procedures, roles, responsibilities, and safety requirements related to aircraft pushback (RMP12) and towing (RMP13).

It covers the complete operational process, from preparation and equipment checks to aircraft movement, positioning, and post-operation procedures. Participants also learn how to manage both standard and non-standard situations, including communication failures, equipment defects, operational disruptions, and emergencies.

The programme aims to support safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft ground handling by strengthening participants’ knowledge, coordination, situational awareness, and decision-making during routine and emergency operations.

Target Audience

This training is intended for personnel who are directly or indirectly involved in aircraft pushback and towing operations, including:

• Pushback and towing tractor drivers.
• Ground-handling personnel.
• Headset operators.
• Wing walkers and ground guides.
• Ramp agents and ramp supervisors.
• Aircraft maintenance personnel involved in aircraft towing.
• Operations staff responsible for coordinating aircraft movements.
• Personnel who supervise, authorize, or support pushback and towing activities.

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

Additional information

Practical authorization to perform pushback or towing operations should only be granted after successful completion of the required theoretical training, equipment-specific practical training, supervised practice, and operational assessment.
