Ramphandler working on the ramp requires specific knowledge of aircraft maintenance, ground handling practices and safety. Objectives

Ground operations ensure efficient management of aircraft to keep flights on schedule. In order to work safely on the apron, this course includes an introduction to apron services and ground handling practices and safety specifications that the candidate must keep in mind.

At the end of this training, participants will know

Functional framework for ground operations such as

  • Airside environment and airport services in case of a disaster
  • Aircraft characteristics
  • Knowledge of Ground Service Equipment (GSE)
  • Baggage handling to and from the aircraft, performing activities before the aircraft parks, arrives, departs, etc.
  • Fundamental safety and security principles to optimize operations

Important procedures for aircraft handling tasks such as

  • Standard operating procedures
  • Aircraft arrival and departure
  • Cleaning, catering and other services (fueling, …)
  • Various weather conditions and BRU apron warning system
  • Identification and classification of dangerous goods.
  • Understanding of regulations concerning the labelling, packaging and storage of dangerous goods
  • Recognising and identifying labels and packaging specifications of dangerous goods
  • Being aware of emergency response procedures for dangerous goods
  • Knowledge of communication systems
