Introduction to air cargo

Summary

This introductory training provides participants with a solid understanding of the airport and air cargo environment. Participants gain insight into airport operations, the key stakeholders and processes involved in air cargo, and the terminology commonly used in the industry. The course also introduces the regulatory framework, security requirements and operational procedures needed to work confidently and effectively in an airport environment.

Target Audience

Employees (blue- and white-collar) performing an operational role at an airport.

• Describe the structure and operation of an airport and the air cargo supply chain
• Identify the main stakeholders and their responsibilities in import and export operations
• Understand the key steps in the air cargo handling process
• Recognise the different types of cargo and their transport requirements
• Use common airport and air cargo terminology
• Understand the basic principles of air cargo pricing, security and applicable regulations
• Work confidently within an airport and air cargo environment
