Summary

This Aviation Security Supervisor training provides the additional knowledge and competencies required for personnel responsible for supervising aviation security operations and overseeing staff performing aviation security duties. The course is developed in accordance with EU Regulation 2015/1998, Article 11.2.4, which establishes the training requirements for supervisors responsible for personnel involved in aviation security activities.

Supervisors play a vital role in ensuring that aviation security procedures are correctly implemented and consistently applied during daily operations. They are responsible for monitoring compliance with security procedures, supporting and guiding operational personnel, and ensuring that security standards are maintained in accordance with applicable European and national regulations.

The course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of aviation security legislation, operational supervision, incident management, and supervisory responsibilities. Particular emphasis is placed on leadership, communication, decision-making, and fostering a strong security culture within operational teams.

Through a combination of regulatory knowledge, practical examples, and operational scenarios, participants develop the skills required to effectively supervise aviation security activities, support their teams in the correct implementation of security procedures, and respond appropriately to security incidents and operational irregularities.

Target Audience

This training is intended for personnel responsible for directly supervising staff implementing aviation security controls, in accordance with EU Regulation 2015/1998 – Article 11.2.4.

It applies to individuals who oversee personnel performing security tasks defined under the aviation security regulation, including but not limited to:

  • Supervisors overseeing screening of persons, cabin baggage, items carried and hold baggage
  • Supervisors responsible for vehicle inspections and security checks
  • Supervisors overseeing access control procedures, patrols and surveillance activities within airport security restricted areas
  • Team leaders responsible for monitoring the correct implementation of aviation security procedures
  • Operational supervisors responsible for ensuring staff compliance with aviation security regulations

This training ensures that supervisors possess the knowledge, leadership skills and regulatory understanding required to effectively oversee aviation security operations and ensure compliance with applicable security procedures and regulations.

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the roles, responsibilities, and legal obligations of an Aviation Security Supervisor.
  • Supervise the correct implementation of aviation security procedures in accordance with applicable regulations.
  • Monitor compliance with aviation security requirements and identify deviations from established procedures.
  • Support, guide, and coach operational personnel in the effective application of security measures.
  • Manage and report aviation security incidents, irregularities, and security breaches in accordance with established procedures.
  • Apply effective leadership, communication, and decision-making skills in operational security environments.
  • Promote a strong security culture and contribute to the continuous improvement of aviation security performance.
  • Coordinate security activities while ensuring the protection of passengers, personnel, aircraft, and airport infrastructure.

Previous knowledge required

To participate in an aviation security training course in which non-public security information is addressed, organisations must ensure that:

  • a standard background check has been completed;
  • the participant is considered reliable and authorised to access sensitive security information.

Successful completion of the basic Aviation Security training course, in accordance with Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2015/1998, point 11.2.2, is a prerequisite for participation in this training course. This course builds on the knowledge and competencies acquired during the basic training.
