Dangerous Goods Regulations for Security Screening Personnel – 7.10

Summary

The Dangerous Goods 7.10 training provides personnel involved in the screening of baggage, cargo and mail with the knowledge required to recognise dangerous goods and apply the relevant IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.

Participants learn to identify dangerous goods, recognise hidden or undeclared items, interpret markings and labels, and respond appropriately to irregularities and incidents. The training supports the safe and compliant screening of baggage, cargo and mail in an aviation environment.

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Explain the basic principles of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations relevant to screening activities
• Recognise the main classes and hazards of dangerous goods
• Identify prohibited, restricted, hidden or undeclared dangerous goods
• Interpret relevant markings, labels and packaging information
• Recognise irregularities and signs of non-compliance during screening
• Identify appropriate safety measures when dangerous goods are detected
• Apply the correct reporting and communication procedures
• Explain the basic response to dangerous goods incidents and emergencies
• Contribute to the safe and compliant screening of baggage, cargo and mail
