Summary

This training provides participants with the essential knowledge required to identify, handle, store, and load dangerous goods safely and in accordance with current regulations. It covers dangerous goods classifications, labels, markings, packaging requirements, hidden hazards in cargo and baggage, passenger and crew baggage provisions, and the use of the Notification to Captain (NOTOC). The course also prepares participants to respond appropriately to incidents and apply the relevant emergency procedures.

Objectives

By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

• Correctly identify dangerous goods.
• Explain the origins of the current regulations and the general philosophy behind them.
• Recognize and identify the different classes of dangerous goods.
• Recognize and correctly interpret the hazard and handling labels applicable to dangerous goods.
• Recognize and identify the markings and packaging specifications for dangerous goods.
• Identify potential hidden hazards in cargo and baggage.
• Apply the appropriate storage and loading procedures.
• Explain the provisions relating to dangerous goods carried in passenger and crew baggage.
• Correctly apply emergency response measures and procedures related to dangerous goods.
• Understand the purpose and use of the Notification to Captain (NOTOC).
• Respond appropriately in accordance with the applicable emergency procedures.

Upon passing the exam with a minimum score of 80%, you will receive a certificate valid for 24 months.
