The Weight & Balance Awareness – IGOM Compliant LOD1 course provides participants with a solid theoretical understanding of the basic principles of aircraft weight and balance and their importance for safe and efficient aircraft operations.
Participants learn how aircraft loading, weight distribution, centre of gravity, fuel and structural limitations can affect aircraft performance, stability and controllability. The course introduces key concepts such as aircraft limitations, Unit Load Devices (ULDs), load and fuel planning, loading sequences, and load and trim documentation.
Practical examples and exercises cover both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft, with particular familiarisation with aircraft types such as the B737, B747, B777, A330 and B767-300F.
By the end of the training, participants will be able to:
The training content is aligned with the relevant standards and procedures of the IATA Ground Operations Manual (IGOM).
The course provides LOD1 awareness and familiarisation.
Load planning, loadsheet, documentation and messaging are covered for familiarisation purposes only.
The training does not provide LOD2 or LOD3 certification and does not qualify participants to independently perform these functions.
